1 month old xp3 now has reduced flow rate even after cleaning hoses and media and intake.

by Gar Cohen
(Rockville,Md USA)

When I first hooked up my xp3 the flow rate was really strong on my 90 gal tank. Now 1 month later outflow is greatly reduced by about half. i have cleaned all hoses and intake. Also cleaned media and have it set up exactly as your instructional video says.

So why the reduced flow rate. i had a Fluval 404 for four years and never once did I have a reduction in outflow.

help!!!!

A: This is not normal and you need to troubleshoot the issue. There have been a number of Q&A's already posted on this subject. Here are some links to those sections:

There are at least 4 or 5 questions and troubleshooting guides on this subject on either page. We also have some excellent DIY videos on the subject which I recommend. If you think your filter is defective you need to contact the manufacturer, Mars Fishcare, directly.

Crimping
by: Joshua caldwell

This happened to me too. I discovered that one of the hoses had sagged and was slightly crimped right where the canister nozzle was. I repositioned the sucker clamps to gift the hose a straighter path and that resolved my flow issue.
