Both Rena Filstar xp3s have stopped operating!

by Jason

There was a power glitch this morning and all power went off and then on again rapidly. Both filters stopped operating and, when the power came back on, the filters powered up but the impellars will not move water. I have cleaned, sanded off calcium carbonate buildup, and primed the filters, but when they are plugged in they just act like they want to pump but can't. Not sure what else to do.

A: I have seen this happen before to older filters after a power outage. It will require you to treat the startup in the same way you would restart the filter after cleaning. You can see the proper way to startup a filter by viewing the startup video. If you follow these procedures correcty your filter will re-prime and startup normally. If it does not then you may have some type of priming problems caused by small leak in the intake part of the filter or something more complex that is causing the filter to lose prime when the power is out. If your filter is still under warranty you might try contacting the manufacturer, Mars Fishcare, directly.
