Can I use a XP3 motor on a XP2 canister?

I think the XP3 canister is too high for my aquarium cabinet. I do have a XP2 canister (the motor for this canister is broken). Can I use the XP3 motor on the XP2 canister?

A: It will work but it may be too powerful for the canister. You can always turn the flow down with the flow control if needed. If you have too much flow through the canister this can actually reduce the effectiveness of the filter.
