Can I use an XP4 on a 55 gallon tank?

by LT
(KC, MO USA)

I have a 55 gallon tank that I wish to use again and repopulate. I have one of the old "hang-off-the-back-o-the-tank" models and wish to upgrade to something that is more efficient and easier to maintain. Shortly after starting to research cannister filters, I saw a great deal on an XP4 at a local pet store, and wondered if I could use it on my 55 or would it be too powerful. Thanks.

A: Yes, you can use it but you will have to turn it down quite a bit and you'll still have to do monthly maintenace for best results.
