canister don't stop filling water on prime untill it leaks from the top

i cleaned the canister and filters and after i put it in and let it prime it just went on and on till the water leaked from all the top sides.at first i thought it was the o-ring so i replaced it but again it was leaking because it didn'w stop filling water into the canister.
there is no brake in the canister what so ever.
what is wrong with it?
A: You need to view the setup video on the manfacturer's web site to make sure your setup is correct or you're quick disconnect is not fully seated and is allowing water to continue to siphon out of the aquarium when the canister is full.
