Extreme difficulty priming XP 3 filter?

We noticed that the filter's flow as low, so we took it apart, cleaned the pad, and replaced the carbon. When we set it back up, it worked perfectly fine but there was a small leak coming out of the side. Upon further inspection, there was a small issue with the rubber seal that was causing the small leak. We fixed it and went back to turn the filter on again. However, this time, we cannot seem to prime it to start it. We emptied the water out so we could start it from empty, as directed. Can you provide some good troubleshooting tips or potential problems that could be preventing us from being able to prime it?? The unit is only 2 months old, so it should definitely be working.

A: Since your product is so new the best place to get answers to this type question is from the company/dealer where you purchased the item since they are more familiar with your setup. As an alternative you can contact the manufacturer. In the US that is Mars Fishcare (formerly Aquarium Pharmaceuticals, Inc.) This is the information in the product manual or literature that came with your product. If you don't have that information here it is again:

Email: docwellfish@aquariumpharm.com  Phone: 800-847-0659 or visit their web site at http://www.MarsFishcare.com
