Extremely cloudy water

by Chris Trauzzi
(Oshawa, Ontario, Canada)

I have a Rena Xp4 filter in a 40 gallon tank with a turtle in it. Randomly one day after perfectly clear water, the water in the tank became extremely cloudy and the water coming through the outtake tube is cloudy. I was just wondering if anyone could give me any ideas on how to fix this.
Chris

A: Hard to say what it is. Cloudy water can be caused by a variety of issues. Most common in a turtle tank is a bacterial bloom which just tells you the tank is trying to re-balance after cleaning. The best place to get answers to this type question is from the dealer where you purchased the filter as they would be more familiar with your setup and the species you are keeping.

Also, here is a link to some turtle tank setup questions asked by others that might be helpful. The turtle questions are down the page about the middle of the group.
