Filter madness! xp3

by Adolph
( Dallas tx)

The other day i came home and the filter was making noise. I opened it up checked the filter setup and made sure everything was cleaned. The filter starts correctly then within 10 seconds its stops pumping. then u hear the noise again. the sounds, sounds as if its trying to suck the water but doesnt. I have primed correctly and waited full 2 min. even waited 10 mins another time. Then its start powerful then stops again. Ive cleaned it, checked impaler which spun fine(dont know much about that) and primed correctly. any info would help thanks!

A: Please take some time to look at all the other Q&A's posted on this subject before submitting the question again. If your filter is new you should also be contacting the manufacturer, Mars Fishcare at the telephone number and/or email address enclosed with the filter. I would guess you have something restricting the flow. It appears the water is making its way up into the rotor impeller but something is preventing the flow after the initial
priming. In my experience this is usually caused by improper restart such as filling the canister after cleaning instead of starting with an empty canister. Here are some links to those sections that contain information about startup problems and general performance.
