Fix for Bubley mist with less than minimum drop
by: Chris

Same problem, I have a 24" tall aquarium, 8" off the floor with and xp4... was getting lots of bubbles because it wouldn't prime all the way... you will lose a little water so have a towel ready... what I did was undo one side of the top, this let the air out, then quickly snapped it back in place. No more bubbles... I have to do this every time I clean the filter but it's my fault for having the tank so low. Love the XP4.

my solution
by: Joshua Caldwell

I have 2x XP1 and 1x XP2, this is a common problem in the first few days but it soon goes away. A solution I've found is to run the filter and manipulate the top lever up and down periodically till the bubbles stop. You have to actively monitor it to make sure the top doesn't pop up and mess your floor up.

Rena XP2 for a Reptarium
by: Anonymous

I am interested in applying a Rena xp2 to a Reptarium I've built. I think a Rena xp2 is the answer. However I have a few questions?  My first try has been incorporating a canister filter with a air pump to add oxygen It doesn't quite create the Microbiology required.  So I can maintain fish health. I need to increase bio organism. I would like to have your input and advise. So I can go forward.

A: These are excellent questions but the manufacture, Mars Fishcare does not support the use of the filter for anything but standard aquarium use. However, their may be someone else out there that would have some ideas.

Thank you.
by: Mark

Thank you very much for your quick response. This filter is brand new and has only been running for 24 hours. It is filtering well and is not loud. Will the air at the top of the filter hurt the filter in any way? thanks. Mark.

A: You have potential for the filter motor to run without enough lubrication and this will wear out the rotor/impeller faster than normal setup. The system will not be forgiving if you have any type of air leak in the system and this will make it potentially more difficult to prime.
