XP1 FILTER MEDIA ORDER
by: Anonymous

I've had the XP1 for 2 years. Extremely satisfied. It is attached to a 29 gal tank. It is every bit as good as an E-Heim. I am aware that some of the aquarium hobby literature does caution against the use of a carbon filter regarding plant growth. I've had no problems along these lines. When the plants are new however, use a plant nutrient liquid once or twice a week to give them a start. Use for about a month or two, then stop.
AS FOR THE ORDER IN WHICH THE MEDIA IS STACKED: I experimented with various arrangements and for my purposes at least came up with a good one.
FROM THE BOTTOM UP: 20 PPI FOAM; CERAMIC RINGS (1-2 LAYERS MAX); 30 PPI FOAM; BIOCHEM ZORB; INDIVIDUAL BAGS OF CHARCOAL, AMMONIA, PHOSGARD; MICRO FILTRATION PAD THEN FINAL COVER. HERE'S A SHOCK-LOSE THE SEPARATORS!! THEY'RE USELESS & CUMBERSOME!

HOPE THIS HELPS
