Is BioChem Zorb the same as Activated Carbon?

by sylvia richmond
(manitowoc WI u.s.a.)

would not having bio-chem zorb in the filfration system make the tank water green? only have carbon in the filter and the fish tank water is super green. adding bio-chem zorb fix the green water?

A: BioChem Zorb is the filter media that is included with all Rena Filstar XP filters. It is much more than carbon and includes other filtering agents. You can read about BioChem Zorb at Mars Fishcare. The green water problem is usually caused by small floating algae cells. You can read all about how
to deal with algae here
. Although this article is geared towards ponds most of the info is applicable to aquariums as well.
