Is the XP4 adequate for a 125 gal tank?

by Jackie
(Levittown, Pa)

I was using my XP4 in a 40 gallon tank. I now have a 125 gallon tank and am using the same filter. Will it do the job?

I have 10 medium sized Clown Loaches, 1 large Severum, 1 large Pleco and about 10 small community fish.

A: From the standard of pure flow rate the filter will do the job on tanks up to 175 gallons. From your description it does not sound like you are overstocked for that size tank. However, it is always a good idea to add up the inches (approx) to get some idea of the bioload on the tank. The bigger the fish the more they pollute. If you are even close to overstocking, bigger fish will put you over the limit. It is also a good idea to put the inlet on one side of the tank and the outlet in
the middle or to one side for best circulation.
