leaking canister

Hi
I have just bought a second hand XP3, after about 30 mins running time water starts to leak from the opening where the mains cable enters the lid.
Is this due to a failure of the main seal or the O rings on the ends of the inlet or outlet pipes, or something else?
When I unscrewed the lid and opened it up it was full of water.
I hope someone can help.
