Low flow in one week!

purchased a Rena xp2 for a 55 gallon tank holding 5 Koi fish. Bio chem zorb is supposed to last 1 month but I get low flow and cloudy water after just 7 to 10 days! When I open it to clean the 20 and 30 ppi sponges they are not even really dirty but the micro pad is.I clean and reuse the micro pad but this only gives me a few more days. I thought this filter was good for up to a 75 gallon tank? Maybe with one fish in it. Is ther anything I can do to maintain steady strong flow?? A: A 75 gallon tank with one inch fish does not put nearly the bio-load on the filter as a 75 gal tank with Koi. Koi are also heavy polluters vs most other fish. Add all this together and I see why you have problems. All recommendations for tank size are based on average, healthy stocking levels. I would contact the store where you bought it and complain if this is what they recommended. You can also contact the manufacturer, Mars Fishcare, directly if you think the filter is defective in some way. |
