My quick disconnect valve lever will not budge from the upright position, help ?

by Kristin
(Canada)

I took my RENA Filstar XP4 filter apart to clean, and when I tried to reconnect the quick disconnect valve, the lever wouldnt come down. It is stuck in the upright position and will not budge downward. It will slightly give when you pull it back but only slightly.. When I go to place it on the top of the filter it will not sit properly either. I am always careful and very gentle when taking this filter apart and I havent had any problems with it until now. I hope someone can tell me how to fix this, because im quite stumped and I really need my filter :s
(The picture attached, is exactly the position mine is stuck in now.)

If you still have problems something may be broken inside the QD which can't be repaired. Other sources of information can be found in the Filstar FAQ section as well on this subject.
