My XP3 has been leaking around the top significantly; carpet quite wet.

Do I just need to replace the seal under the lid? Is there a seal kit I can buy?

A: If the leak is between the top of the canister and motor (where the clips attach) then this is most likely a canister O'ring. If the leak is around the Quick disconnect and water is running out the cord area or around the quick disconnect this is most likely either the Orings on the quick disconnect or the QD was not fully seated into the top of the filter when the handle was pulled down.
