Outflow Regulator

On the outflow regulator (XP4) there is a "nipple" piece that sticks up; it appears to be some sort of air valve. I noticed mine was very loose and pressed down on it just a little bit. Now when I turn down flow rate for feeding, air bubbles seem to be discharged out of flow bar. How do I fix this problem? I didn't see anything in other Q and A section of this site. Thanks.

A: Years ago (and I mean like 7 or 8 years ago) the Filstar had a venturi feature built into the flow control valve. This did not work that well and was eliminated sometime after 2000/2001. Rather than make a whole new flow control valve they just put a cap over it. It sounds like that when you pushed down on the cap it must have split or cracked and is now allowing air into the water stream as it passes by the flow control valve (venturi). So, I would either buy another flow control valve
or just plug the hole with a small drop of silicone adhesive. This should stop the air leaking into the discharge side.
