Quick disconnect not working

by Cait
(St. Louis, MO, USA)

Hello! I have a Rena XP3 that I purchased in December. It has always worked properly and been well maintained on my aquarium until recently when I went to do a water change. I lifted the quick disconnect handle, heard a click, and began to disconnect the canister as usual. However, water just poured out anyway and flooded my stand. I took the entire filter, hoses, etc apart and cleaned everything really well to make sure there wasn't extra debris clogging some of the quick disconnect valves or something, etc and everything appeared normal. I tried this again and same thing- the quick disconnect basically isn't working and I cannot lift it without it flooding. Therefore I have to take the entire hose and filter setup out of my tank in order to clean it which is really a pain, and defeats the point of me purchasing this new filter- especially when it is less than a year old. What's my next step? I would appreciate any suggestions you have, and/or information on replacement under warranty (I believe one year?). Thank you very much for your time and attention.
A: if you bought the filter in December you have a two-year warranty and you should contact the manufacturer, Mars Fishcare, directly. You can reach them at www.MarsFishcare.com.
