Reason for leakage?

by T Finnigan
(Alexandria, VA USA)

I have an XP-1 for my 42 gallon aquarium. No problem for three years, but the last few times after cleaning there's leakage drop by drop from the clamps. I've read your troubleshootong page, but it still leaks.
A: A new canister Oring is probably in order. After three years it is not uncommon. You can test this by putting some petroleum jelly on the Oring and see if this seals the leak. Other causes are mis aligned baskets, broken teeth on the brackets built into the sides of canister and broken clips.
