Rena Filstar XP not priming or filling canister
by: Anonymous

I have the same problem. I can't figure out why it happened all of a sudden either.
Sometimes the water level in the canister is so low that the filter won't run and I have to pour water directly into the canister before I can get it working.
More often, the water level is high enough that the filter works, but it's really noisy until the air works it's way out of the canister through the tubes.
I'd also appreciate a solution to this problem if anyone can help!

A: The answer to this question has been posted several places including at the bottom of these posts in the most Frequently Asked Questions under performance. All of these issues relate to poor priming of the system. If water does not make its way up into the pumping chamber the rotor impeller is not lubricated and therfore grinds. This eventually will destroy the rotor/impeller. I urge you to read the troubleshooting information on this web site and the Mars Fishcare web site for how to correct this problem.
