Are the XP pump heads interchangeable with the different canister housings?
by Deeda

I recently acquired some used XP filter parts. I don't have the canister housing for an XP3 but do have one for an XP4. Can I just install the XP3 head on the XP4 canister housing? Will this affect the operation of the filter at all? Will the flow rate of the filter stay the same or will it decrease because of the extra media?
Would this apply to swapping an XP1 head to an XP3 canister body also?
A: Physically everything fits but flow rates of the pumps are designed to provide the optimal flow for the number of baskets. Changing these heads will change the flow rates. Some people have made this work and others were not so happy. The manufacturer does not provide any support for this type of setup and it will void any warranty you might have left.

Are their any inlet extensions for XP filter available in black

With a black background, the light blue extensions are very noticeable. Was just curious if there were any other options I'd have to change this.
A: Yes, you do have an aption. The inlet accessories for the Rena SmartFilters will actually fit the intlet for the Filstar. This will give you all black accessories except the inlet pipe. You can paint this with any good acrylic spray paint. Just make sure you let the paint cure for a week or so to prevent in chemical agents from getting into the tank.
