Rena Filstar XP3 included with my aquarium does not siphon water.

by Nick
(Jacksonville, nc, usa)

when i bought a 125 gallon tank they included a rena xp3. The filter will pump water when i filled the filter but it will not suck up water. Do i need to just give it some more time?

A: What you describe is a priming issue. If this filter is setup properly it is one of the easiest filters to start.  It was designed from the beginning to overcome many of the problems in maintaining an external canister filter. First, please review the other FAQ's listed after the new FAQ form under the "performance" area. There are many questions and answers about flow listed there. There is also an excellent video on the proper setup of your filter offered by
the manufacturer at MarsFishcare.com.
