Replaced quick disconnect O-rings but still leaking through power cord hole...why?

by Sean
(VA Beach)

I replaced both O-rings in my XP3. Leaking seemed to stop for about a day...but next morning water was still all over the floor. What could be going on with this? As far as media...in the bottom basket Im using the standard black foam pads...the middle is filled with Seachem Matrix and the top is filled with crushed coral. My only thought was water flow was being restricted too much?? Please help...

Sean
A: It is very difficult for us to determine anything if you are using non Rena media. These filters were tested for several years before being sold with media developed to provide the best combination of filtration and flow. Anything you do will be a guess but the only way water ends up coming out the power cord is if you are getting leaking around the quick disconnect. You really should review the DIY video on the quick disconnect for more ideas.
