Replacement plug for Filstar XP Canister Filter

by Kathy
(Michigan)

The rubber stopper (plug) that fits in the top of the filstar has become rigid and no longer stays in place. Where can I purchase a replacement?

A: There is no rubber plug for the filter. What you might be talking about is the plastic plug that goes in a hole on the side of the filter. This is an air vent. If it comes out there is no way that I know of to replace it. If your filter is less than two years old you might try conacting the manfuacturer, Mars Fishcare directly.

Can it be glued?
by: Kathy

I still have the plastic piece, can I glue it in place?

Unfortunately, the filter is about 5 years old....but works great otherwise - so I hate to have to purchase a new one.

Thanks!

You can try. Just make sure you don't push the plug all the way in. You must leave a small gap about 1/16th of an inch for the air to escape when you are filling the unit. If it works you have saved the cost of a new filter. If it doesn't then you haven't spen a lot trying.
