The flexible tubing has something growing on the walls. What do I do?

by Betty Larese
(Clovis, CA)

The tubine that goes from the filter to the tank has something growing on the inside walls. It looks like white cottage cheese. I have onlly has the Filstar XP2 filter for 2-3 months. What is this stuff and will it make a difference. I have one red slider turtle in the tank and occasionally add fish for him to eat.

A: Hard to say what it is. The best place to get answers to this type question is from the dealer where you purchased the filter as they would be more familiar with your setup and the species you are keeping. You can always clean the tubing or replace it. Also, here is a link to some turtle tank setup questions asked by others that might be helpful.
