troubleshooting lack of suction of my Rena Filstar XP3 filter

by Ryan
(Columbus, Ohio)

My Rena Filstar XP3 filter unfortunately suffered through up to a few days of freezing temperatures and now I cannot seem to get it to pump. In this case I would have to get a whole new top part? If, however I could be overlooking some other small detail, please help to guide me through troubleshooting getting it started pumping. There could be air somewhere, but I can't seem to get it yet. Thank you.

A: If you mean frozen solid then I would recommend getting a new motor. If you mean it won't pump there have been a number of Q&A's already posted on this subject. Here are some links to those sections:

You will need to scroll down the page to find them but there are at least 4 or 5 questions and troubleshooting guides on this subject on either page. We also have some excellent DIY videos on the subject which I recommend. You can also contact the manufacturer, Mars Fishcare, directly at 800-847-0659 for free help and Rena OEM Sales
offers technical support for $19.95 per incident with the full amount applied against the cost for any parts you may need. You can reach them at 1-800-968-7362.
