Water flow decrease in XP3 filter

by Bob Dick
(Ajax, Ontario, Canada)

My XP3 filter seems to have lost some of it's output capacity.
When I first got it there would be a steady stream of water coming out of the spray bar at a decent pressure level.
Now there is still water coming out, but not nearly at the same pressure or volume level as before.
One last note is that I do occasionally here the unit "recycle" to push out some unwanted air.

Same problem, same solution with xp4
by: RWilliams

I had very low flow rate on my xp4 and had replaced the impeller assembly with no increase UNTIL I replaced the pad in the top canister. Flow rate immediately went WAY up.

Found the problem
by: Bob Dick

I found the problem, but thought it would be useful to post.
As it turns out I did 2 things...I changed the foam pad in the top cartridge as I thought that the decreased flow could have been caused by the dirty pad.
I also removed and reseated the cartridges again. Once I did those 2 steps and restarted the filter I immediately saw a drastic improvement in flow, and I don't hear any air recycling.
