I woke up to find about 15 gallons of water everywhere. After cleaning it up and working with the filter, I have noticed that the water is coming from the latches on the container. Everything else is solid and good. My filter is 2 years old. Please advise!
Editor: this could indicate an Oring replacement is needed or it could mean that the the last time the top of the filter was locked down it didn't make a good seal and started leaking. You can also find a lot of other Q&A's if the FAQ section of the web site about leaks.

Other reasons for leaking around the Quick Disconnect by: Anonymous
After 3-4 years other things can cause leaking around the Quick Disconnect. The most common cause is leaking around the Quick Disconnect O-rings but sometimes the QD itself is damaged. This can be on the inside and is not repairable. The two "keys" that look like posts sticking up on the motor can also be damaged and not allowing for tight integration of the QD into the top of the filter. These "keys" get worn or broken. This does require the replacement of the motor as these "keys"
are built into the motor. You can always buy a new QD, try it out and if it fixes the problem great. If it does not we accept returns on parts up to 30 days after purchase.

I have similar problem with leaky filter by: Aaron Bailey
I did a normal cleaning/water change. I have had my Rena XP2 for about 3-4 years now - love the filter, but this time I cam home from work and noticed water was linking from upstairs (where the tank is) into my basement. Seems like this previous comment, that the well has filled up and water was leaking out where the cord goes. I plugged up the cord hole and now it overflows the side. Unlike Bill's posts suggests that strain on the QD is the cause, there is no strain on mine. Any other ideas as to the cause of the overflow? The top has not been dropped or anything out of the ordinary...

Rena Filstar Quick Disconnect is the problem by: Bill
It sounds like when you moved the filter this time is slightly dislodged the Quick Disconnect on the filter. This allowed water bubble up around the QD. If you remove the QD you will see a small half-tube which carries the water into a small well. This is fine for small leaks but if you have a large leak like this it will fill the well and eventually run out around where the cord goes. If you review the manual you'll find it mentions that extra strain on the QD can cause leaking.
