where is the carbon located in the filter?

I have the xp3 filter and I need to remove the carbon the treat one of my fish for a fungal infection. Which of the three levels is the carbon located, what does it look like?
A: In a bag and usually located in the middle basket. If the unit is still setup as it came from the factory then it will be the only bag in the canister. This is probably not carbon but BioChem Zorb which does contain some carbon.
