Why am I getting white dust?

I have two Filstar XP3 filters. One is fine, no problems. The other shoots white "dust" into the tank every night (could happen during the day too but I am not around to see). The "dust" ends up floating to the top and the surface of the water is covered with it. Some of it just float around all over the place. It dissipates over time, until the next night.
I thought maybe it was the white ceramic rings I had in the filter - took them out. Still get the dust. Then I thought maybe it was the white filter pad, maybe breaking down or something... took that out. Still get the dust. Currently, I just have the thick black foam pieces at the base of the filter and one tray of black "stars". Nothing else. Still get the white dust.
The tubing I am using is the tubing that came with the Filstar. Both filters have the same tubing.
The filters have been running on my 100g tank for about 3 months.
Can you advise?
Thank you!
