Why is my XP3 not moving water

by Scott Anstey
(Rock Hill, SC)

When I first plug it in it pumps for abut 2 seconds and then stops pumping. What could be causing this? The air is purged and I have disassembled the pump and checked the magnet impeller and shaft-no visable damage.
Thanks,
Scott Anstey

A: Your problem is most likely caused by poor priming. The fact that the water stops after two minutes indicates that water is not making its way into the pumping chamber at the top of the filter. This topic is covered extensively in the FAQ section. You can also find help for this at the manufactures web site MarsFishcare under the Rena section. They also include a nifty video that many hobbyists find useful in identifying this type problem.
