why is my XP3 "skipping" ?

my filter is no longer working. it sounds as if its "skipping"/ grinding. a rock in the impeller. it spins when i look at it open, but as soon as i put it on/ prime, it does nothing, and sometime the impeller just stops. the filter is less then a year old... A: This is not normal and you need to troubleshoot the issue. There have been a number of Q&A's already posted on this subject.
