xp3 leaking at right rear clip...intake side

by barry tom
(reinholds, pa usa)

I was perfomring routine xp3 filter maintenance this evening. I have a 75 gallon tank and this would be the 4th filter change in the last year.

I performed all the recommended steps and when I reattached the hoses, there was a brisk leak at the right rear clip on the intake side.

Help...my fish are in jeopardy...what should I do?

my email address is btom1959@yahoo.com.

Barry

A: From your description is sounds like the baskets were not lined up before you snapped down the clips. This most happens whens you start with water in the in canister after cleaning instead of letting the aquarium prime the filter when restarting. There is a lot of information already posted in Q&A section about this.

problem solved

Thank you for your suggestion regarding proper canister alignment and proper priming of the XP3.

After multiple attempts, I took a close look at the filter lid rubber gasket.

Adjacent to the leak right rear clip, the rubber gasket was turned about 90 degrees. I removed the rubber gasket and then reseated the gasket.

Problem solved...no leaking after 12 hours...fish are good!

A: Glad We Could Help! Also we will add that suggestion to check for proper alignment of the gasket to our answers in the futures.
