XP3 no longer pumping water

by Jean Sandercock
(Kelowna, BC, Canada)

My XP 3 is just over a year old.

The impeller is making a lot of rattling noises and the unit no longer draws water up.
Do I need to replace the impeller unit?

If so, how fast can I get one?
I have a 75 gallon tank with mature cichlids and would hate to lose any fish.

thanks kindly,
Jean

A: First, don't panic! You can aerate and do partial water changes until your part arrives. Second, please read through the numerous, already posted, Q&A's on this subject posted under performance before deciding if you need a new impeller. And finally, the best place to get answers to this type question is from the dealer where you purchased your filter so you might try them first for any ideas on what might be causing the issue.

As an alternative you can contact the manufacturer. In the US that is Mars Fishcare (formerly Aquarium Pharmaceuticals, Inc.) This is the information in the product manual or literature that came with your product. If you don't have that information here it is again:
