XP3 STOPPED PUMPING WATER

by phil
(Midlothian,VA)

Virginia just had a hurricane so after the power came on, I did a complete clean of my xp-3, start up went well filter filled up with water, waited a few minutes, but after I turned it on, it not pumping and water into the tank. Motor is on, you can here the propeller spinning, its just not pumping the water, I've checked all the connections 2 or 3 times, it should be a go.any suggestions
A: It sounds like something in your setup is allowing air to be drawn into the filter while it is restarting. If you always start with an empty canister when you restart you will know something is wrong when the canister does not completely fill with water. If your connections are all good you may have air leaking in around the quick-disconnect or you may have a defective QD. Another problem although more rare is if the motor received a power surge or you had frequent power outages during the storm you may have damaged the rotor/impeller. These types of electrical problems and can de-magnetize the rotor/impeller making it more hard pump water after a restart.
